Life In Color has come a long way, 10 years to be exact. It was a gorgeous day in Wynwood Miami, the weather was perfect. Having to gone to a few Life In Color shows back in the day, even before it was called LIC. The location, the setup, and the stages completely blew me away. It was the largest crowd ever imagined, a wide range of the age groups. For some people, it was their first ever Life In Color. A clever way to place all three stages were placed far enough from each other where you couldn’t have to hear the other stages play which was very impressive. Each and every artist performed at their perfection even with some surprise guests along the way. It was truly an LIC that this writer will never forget.
Colors of paint were thrown everywhere, people were completely covered from head to toe. People had their own little paint parties within the crowds, the paint was everywhere. Cannons of paint were shooting from all different directions making sure that everyone that was a part of the Life In Color movement would be covered in paint. It was more than a festival, it was more than a paint party, it was gathering of people who loved the music, good vibes, great food trucks, and most of all dubstep. There was the Tree of Wishes, where people could write a wish on a piece of paper and tie on a tree and their dream will come true. There was the signature Wall, where you could sign your name on the wall of memories. The LIC sign, a place where people can get even more covered in paint.
Let's take a tour around how the people of Life In Color transformed Wynwood into a huge paint party. When you first walk in there’s a booth where you could buy paint bottles to add more fun to your own party. You would have a walk through a tunnel of lights to get to the MainStage area, where there were food trucks and the LOUD ROOM and MainStage where all the artists that were a part of LIC played their best sets ever imaginable. Then take a walk over to the RARE stage with artists like BLUNTS and BLONDES, CARNAGE, DESIIGNER, OOKAY, TRITONAL, and DOCTOR P all played some of their best sets ever. Blunts and Blondes absolutely killed it, never seen energy with such power and enthusiasm at a festival ever. Tritonal was another favorite as a true Tritonian fan, they played some old and new songs such as Archer, Colors, Blackout, and their new hit that has 5 million streams on Spotify Hung Up. Back over to the LOUD ROOM, which was no joke. With artists like DNA, AUDIGY, BIG N SLIM, SIGFIG, XANDER, THROWDOWN, and KATUSTROPHIX all performed incredible sets. They sure knew how to pump the dubstep right into your veins. It was an awesome place to get weird in as well.
Last but not least, Sector X – the MainStage. Where some of the best DJs today were invited and to share their experience with all their fans. Artists such as NITTI GRITTI, LUCCIO, BONNIE X CLYDE, SALANO, MIJA, ILLENNIUM, SEVEN LIONS, MARSHMELLO, and DIPLO all played perfection. One of the best parts of the whole show all was towards the end of BXC beautiful set when they invited their friend Nitti Gritti to play back-to-back together. BONNIE X CLYDE was absolutely stupendous. They played with pure passion, it was their first time performing on the MainStage at LIC. Miami native David Solano now known as SOLANO, took me back to when he first began his career, playing his new and old tracks. He was the mastermind along with Adventure Club behind 2014’s Life In Color Anthem Unleash. Seven Lions was magical, a mix of dubstep, melodic dubstep, and trance all what they’re known for. An absolute crowd pleaser was Marshmello where he played everyone’s favorite Alone. The one that closed the show, the one that we all have been waiting for was Diplo. He played his own, his remixes of some of the best tracks of EDM. Even his own creation Major Lazer, even his newest track Run Up. The best part when we made that epic drop making his own ‘run up’ to the center of the stage.
Life In Color, home of the largest paint party in the world. It was more than a party, it was a place where people made new friendships, and where makers were made. The place where the artists gave their everything. A place where people could celebrate their love of dance music, dubstep, and to dance. A place where you can get covered in paint! There is only one word that could describe LIC and that is EPIC. Thank you to the people of Life In Color, and everyone who were behind the scenes, to another 10 more years.
