The Monstercat family nerds came home a little late for the holidays, but Alexander Odden and Michael Parsberg — known together as Pegboard Nerds — have returned with a new release, the “Nerds by Nature” EP. (Also, a quick fun fact: The name “Pegboard Nerds” comes from an anagram of the duo's surnames, Odden and Parsberg! Sorry I'm such a nerd…) The duo's six-track extended play, though, features an assortment of genres, from dubstep to house music, but “Nerds by Nature” starts with “Speed of Light” as an ethereal introduction.

“Speed of Light” sets a sensational soundscape for the listener to enter the record, but building up to “Talk About It,” the second track and on bring out even further exquisite emotions. Featuring Desirée Dawson, “Talk About It” picks up the pace for an upbeat future bass banger filled with energy through industrious instrumentation, as well as fitting vocals to add a fun and flirtatious twist to the track.
“Melodymania” makes for a powerful progressive house addition to the “Nerds By Nature” roster, all the while “Go Berserk” will simply have the listeners reacting as the track's title demands. With Quiet Disorder on the track, “Go Berserk” may have been my personal favorite from “Nerds By Nature,” however, the EP was rounded out by two other older, but amazing releases: “BAMF” and “Blackout.”
