Bonnaroo Drops 2017 Line Up Including – U2, RHCP, Flume and Marshmello
Bonnaroo is truly a festival that does not need any introduction. It is one of the most recognizable names in the world of music festivals. Today the legendary fest just dropped their line up for this year’s installment, and it is beautifully diverse, eclectic and all encompassing.
For anyone who needs the quick history lesson, Bonnaroo has been running every June since 2002 on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee, and it built its reputation early on by refusing to stick to one genre. Where a lot of festivals plant their flag in one lane, whether that’s rock, jam bands or electronic, Bonnaroo has always thrown everything onto one bill and let the audience wander between stages, and the 2017 lineup keeps that tradition very much alive.
Unsurprisingly the headliners are U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Weeknd. Those were more or less confirmed weeks ago. That being said Bonnaroo also has brought on an incredible assortment of electronic acts as well. Most obvious Flume and Major Lazer sit at the top of the bill with indie electronic band The xx. Marshmello has made his way towards the top along with Big Gigantic.

It’s worth pointing out just how loaded this bill is even outside the names already mentioned. Chicago rapper Chance the Rapper actually rounds out the headliner tier as a fourth top-billed act alongside U2, The Weeknd and Red Hot Chili Peppers, which already reads like three or four completely different festivals mashed into one weekend, exactly the kind of lineup Bonnaroo has built its name on for a decade and a half now. For the electronic and bass crowd specifically, having Flume and Major Lazer anchoring right alongside Marshmello and Big Gigantic means there’s a legitimately strong dance music presence tucked into a festival a lot of people still associate first with jam bands and indie rock.
That genre-blending approach is really the whole appeal of Bonnaroo at this point. You can catch a rock legend like U2 on The Which Stage, wander over for a Major Lazer set that turns the whole field into a dance party, and still make it back in time for The Weeknd’s headlining slot, all without leaving the farm. Tickets for the 2017 edition are available now, so if this lineup has you sold, don’t sleep on securing a spot before the good tiers disappear.
