Deadmau5 Teases More Details on His Forthcoming Album
After completing his own home studio earlier this year, Deadmau5 has been plugging away at his next album. After teasing track after track on his SoundCloud, Deadmau5 has revealed that he is further along in his album than we had anticipated.
While Deadmau5 has not given a definitive date for a release or any tracklist, we’re sure Deadmau5 will update us throughout the way with any news or updates.

This is the album Deadmau5 fans have been circling on the calendar ever since he wrapped his personal studio, and these tweets are basically the first real confirmation that the thing is actually taking shape instead of just being talked about. Six tracks “ready to go” out of a project he’s now guessing will land somewhere around 9 to 12 songs is a pretty significant update coming from a guy who is notoriously cagey about giving fans concrete numbers on unfinished work.
For context, this is the era that would eventually become W:/2016ALBUM/, the Mau5trap full-length that arrived that December as an 11-track record (plus a bonus cut depending on the format), built around a self-aware joke about how a computer file folder became the album’s literal title. It’s worth remembering Deadmau5 has never been shy about criticizing his own back catalog, so getting him this openly excited — using words like “neat” about his own progress — is worth paying attention to.
The Josh Goodman tweet is a fun wrinkle too. Fans trying to reverse-engineer a tracklist from scraps of studio chatter and SoundCloud snippets has basically become its own side hobby in the Deadmau5 fanbase, and it doesn’t look like this cycle will be any different.
