Deadmau5 & Eric Prydz To Perform At Their Own Stage at Tomorrowland 2016
The 2016 year has already been quite a strong year for both Eric Prydz and Deadmau5. Earlier this week, Deadmau5 announced his Mau5trap tour, along with the news that he will be playing A State of Trance at Ultra Music Festival. Eric Prydz on the other hand also announced to be playing at ASOT during Ultra Music Festival, as well as performing at sold-out EPIC 4.0 shows and releasing his incredible debut album ‘Opus.’
Today, Tomorrowland announced that its first headliners would be none other than both deadmau5 and Eric Prydz. Not only will these artists be headlining one of the biggest music festivals in the world, Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz will be curating their very own stage.

The pairing made a lot of sense on paper, but the two didn’t stop at just curating a joint stage together. As Tomorrowland weekend one drew closer, both artists started teasing something bigger than a standard back-to-back set. Deadmau5 confirmed in June that the two were building an actual live show together, blending his and Prydz’s production setups rather than just trading off tracks the way most B2B sets go.
That stage ended up being billed as the Mau5trap vs. Pryda Stage, a nod to both of their labels, and it went down exactly as promised on Friday, July 22nd, 2016. Deadmau5 and Prydz played a full live B2B set together, running through a mix of their own records and unreleased material, and clips from the set spread across YouTube almost immediately afterward as fans tried to figure out exactly what they were hearing. It was one of the more talked-about sets of that entire Tomorrowland weekend, and it cemented the idea that these two heavyweight producers could share a stage without it turning into a competition — this was a genuine collaboration between two of dance music’s most respected perfectionists.
Looking back, the Tomorrowland 2016 pairing turned out to be a preview of a friendship and creative partnership between deadmau5 and Eric Prydz that’s continued to pop up at festivals in the years since, with fans still asking for a proper studio release out of the sessions the two started building around that live show.
