With cutting edge television dramas often turning to electronic music in these modern times, it's fun to see some of our favorite underground acts getting airtime in a series of events that might not otherwise play out except in our minds (or at a show). NBC's “The Blacklist” starring James Spader caught some attention for dropping a dark, creepy bass track from Koan Sound and now HBO's True Detective is picking up where they left off – turning to Tipper and The Haxan Cloak for more glitch and dark funk. Fans are taking notice.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, True Detective's Musical Director T. Bone Burnett explained what he was working on this season. He explained, “I like this guy Tipper. He’s a glitch-hop artist. And I like Haxan Cloak a lot. Those are a couple of good electronic artists.”
Tipper's “Off Kilter” was featured in the most recent episode of the new season, starring Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams. Check out a live version of the track with Android Jones visuals.
