With 25,000 Facebook likes and about 60,000 Soundcloud followers in just a three month time span, Marshmello is now another faceless name that has taken over electronic dance music's rising star list. His ascension may seem similar to mau5trap artist, ATTLAS – who was recently revealed by Pete Tong. Marshmello's current biography on Facebook states, “I just want to make good music…that doesn't require you knowing who I am.”
But a recent interview between Katie Couric and Skrillex revealed that Marshmello is definitely someone named “Chris.” Sonny Moore (Skrillex) answered his phone during the interview and revealed that the caller was Chris AKA “Marshmello.”
Chris Comstock is Dotcom, a Philly native who is believed to be Marshmello based on his management team's support of his music. His manager, Moe Shalizi of Red Light Management, has a few other artists who have regularly reposted Marshemello's tracks. This suggests a greater plan was in place with his artists like Sikdope, Kayliox, and Jauz part of the reposting train (they've all reposted the new track he made today already).
Today, a new track from Marshmello seemed to confide that his identity was discovered with the vocal sample on repeat: “Everybody know me.” The artwork even uses a funny image of Katie Couric on it. Check out the free Download called “KnOw ME.”
Check it out and stay tuned.
