Watch Kaskade’s Behind The Scenes Video from his Mainstage Coachella Performance

When it comes to production, Kaskade is a true professional. His shows are some of the most well thought out in the dance industry. In this behind the scenes video of the preparation for Kaskade’s latest Coachella set, you get a glimpse into the DJ’s large scale rehearsal for his mainstage set. He actually rents out a warehouse to plan his stage production perfectly to execute a mind blowing performance.
This year, Kaskade was the only dance DJ to grace the Mainstage. After his performance in 2012, he wondered where he could go from there. The answer was clearly no where but up.
That 2012 Coachella set is still considered one of the most important sets in the festival’s history for dance music — it was the moment Kaskade helped prove that a solo electronic act could headline a mainstage slot traditionally reserved for rock and pop acts. Coming back in 2015 to do it again, and to be the only dance artist to land that spot, put a lot of pressure on the return. Judging by the rehearsal footage, Kaskade and his team treated it with exactly the seriousness that kind of moment deserves.
Kaskade’s mainstage sets have always leaned heavily on visuals and physical stage design rather than just lights and pyro, and the warehouse rehearsals shown in this video are a good example of why his shows feel more like full productions than a typical DJ set. Rebuilding an entire stage layout off-site just to rehearse timing and transitions is the kind of behind-the-scenes effort most fans never think about, but it’s exactly what separates a forgettable set from one people are still talking about years later.
The second half of the video puts together clips of the high-energy performance with the final message “Thank You Coachella“. Kaskade always lets his fans know he appreciates them and it shows in his work.
Between the warehouse rehearsals, the custom-built stage elements, and the sheer scale of the production, it’s clear why Kaskade’s mainstage sets keep getting talked about years later. This kind of behind-the-scenes look is a good reminder of just how much work goes into the few hours fans see on stage. Check out the BTS video below.
