Jack Ü- To Ü (Lookas Remix)
The legendary duo of Skrillex and Diplo (fan or not, this team is undeniably a big deal), also known as Jack Ü’s official album released last weekend, and that was a monumental moment for the industry. I mean seriously people, don’t even try and deny it. If you didn’t know that happened, well congratulations! You no longer live under a rock. As for this write up, “To Ü” has quickly become a fan favorite, and for fans of electronic trap, Lookas did you the favor of making one of his most fire remixes to date, and it’s a remix to “To Ü”. This track is super hype, and although it’s an unofficial remix, I wouldn’t be surprised if Jack Ü played it live. Add this to everyone of your turn up playlists, and enjoy!

For the record, that “last weekend” release was February 27, 2015, when Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack Ü officially dropped after what felt like forever of teasing — a record stacked with everything from “Where Are Ü Now” with Justin Bieber to a feature from 2 Chainz and, of course, AlunaGeorge on “To Ü.” That track never got the full single treatment or a proper chart push, but it didn’t need one — it picked up major radio love anyway, including a spot on BBC Radio 1Xtra’s playlist, and the duo had already been road-testing it live at Burning Man back in 2014 before the album even came out. That kind of grassroots buzz is exactly the kind of thing that makes a track prime real estate for remixers, and Lookas clearly saw the opportunity here.
Lookas, real name Lucas Rego, is a Miami-based producer who cut his teeth in the trap and future bass scene and first really landed on the map thanks to a production credit on Flo Rida’s 2014 hit “G.D.F.R.,” which cracked the Billboard top 10. He walked away from college as a teenager to chase music full-time, crediting Miami’s club scene for pushing him to focus on production instead of just DJing underpaying gigs, and that hustle paid off — he’d go on to release his Lucid EP on Monstercat in 2018 and link up with names like Crankdat and Krewella down the line. Back in 2015 though, remixes like this one were how producers like Lookas built their name, flipping a song everybody was already obsessed with into something built specifically to wreck a club or festival set. Unofficial or not, this “To Ü” flip earns its spot in the rotation.
