Nightmares On Wax – N.O.W. Is The Time [Album Review]

Nightmares On Wax

N.O.W. is the time for you to take a chill pill and embark on a downtempo journey of introspection. In a nutshell, this is the experience you'll get with Nightmares On Wax's newest compilation album, which celebrates his career on Warp Records as the longest running artist on the label, with 25 years under his belt. At 29 tracks deep with a mix of everything from dub, trip hop, ambient and mushroom jazz, it's quite a bargain.

George Evelyn, aka DJ Ease, hails from Leeds, England and had been making beats under the N.O.W. moniker since 198. Many of his tunes sound straight out of a Thievery Corporation album, especially Argha Noah and Dreadoverboard, but have heavier tinge of dub and jazzy elements to be distinguishable in its own right. Deep and groovy baselines occupy every song, accompanied by mood mellowing guitar skanks and hip-hop drum beats. It’s a proper balance of feel good reggae and dubby electronica and it is without an undesirable tune in the whole collection.

N.O.W. Is The Time is the mecca for followers of the artist and it’s more than a suitable dosage to make anyone a fan. Ideal post-festival tunage that is guaranteed to keep the energy going in the most free and easy manor.
