Two icons, two very different eras
Tomorrowland 2014 caught both artists at very different points in their careers. Tiesto was already a certified veteran by that point, having helped pioneer the entire festival-headliner blueprint that acts like Hardwell were still climbing toward. Hardwell, meanwhile, was riding one of the biggest runs of his career, having just topped DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll for the first time in 2013 and again in 2014, making him the reigning “world’s number one DJ” during this exact Mainstage performance.
Both artists have continued to headline major stages around the world in the years since, with Tiesto expanding into pop-leaning crossover hits and Hardwell taking extended breaks from touring before returning to the decks with renewed focus on his own label and back catalog. Tomorrowland itself has only grown bigger since 2014, now spanning multiple weekends and drawing hundreds of thousands of fans to Boom, Belgium every summer.
Sets like these are part of why full-length festival uploads became such a big deal for fans who couldn’t make the trip themselves. Getting an artist’s entire Mainstage performance, mixed exactly as it happened live, gave people all over the world a way to feel like they were standing in that crowd, and that’s exactly the kind of access these Tomorrowland uploads were built to deliver.
