UPDATE: Deadmau5 Is Selling His Nyan Cat Ferrari on AutoTrader
Just days after finishing the Gumball 3000, Deadmau5 has listed his Purrari on Craigslist for a total of $380,000!
According to Deadmau5, the car comes fully loaded with an iPod full of Nyan Cat songs and for anyone who buys the car will get to go on a coffee run with Joel.
“we will ship this thing anywhere in north america. um… also… car stuff… it has like 6500 miles on it… purrs like a nyancat. and can be fully factory restored (wrap removed) if you’re a pussy, “said Joel.
but srsly folks, after i get home, kim putting the purrari on the market. gunna sell it for a mclaren 650s. keep your eyes open if u wannit!

For anyone just catching up, the Purrari started life as a plain Ferrari 458 before Deadmau5 gave it the full Nyan Cat treatment for the Gumball 3000 rally, complete with the rainbow-trail wrap and custom “Purrari” badging. With around 6,500 miles on the clock by the time the rally wrapped, the car was still basically brand new, which is probably why the $380,000 price tag didn’t scare off interested buyers, even with a novelty wrap on it.
The sale ended up being a bit more eventful than a straightforward Craigslist-to-AutoTrader hop, too. Later that summer, Ferrari itself got involved, sending Deadmau5 a cease and desist over the custom “Purrari” insignia and floor mats, essentially telling him to strip the branding before going any further. He didn’t put up much of a fight, tweeting at the time that it was now “just a regular a** 458,” wrap and all removed, before finishing up the sale.
True to the tweet embedded above, Deadmau5 followed through on his plan and picked up a McLaren 650S not long after offloading the 458, a pretty notable brand switch for someone who’d been a longtime Ferrari owner. It’s a fitting ending for a car that spent its final months as one of the most talked-about vehicles in the EDM world, a novelty wrap that turned into an actual trademark dispute with one of the biggest names in motorsports. Only Deadmau5 could turn selling a car into this much of a saga.
