Three days ago, Kaskade treated his fans to a treat by throwing three epic mashups up on his Soundcloud, which is pretty unusual. The three tracks titled Kaskade's “Atmosphere”, “EDC Chicago” and “Festival” are mashups featuring a total of 7 different artists between the three tracks. For the interest of keeping confusing pronouns and sentences to a minimum, check below for each track and the corresponding review.
1)Kaskade vs. Bingo Players & Ken Loi – Missing You Out Of My Mind (Kaskade's Atmosphere Mash Up)
Bringing to the table the distinctive slow buildups of Kaskade and the down low wompage curtesy of Bingo Players, and the progressive soundings of Ken Loi, this track is sure to fill a room with bouncing heads and bodies. The slow melodic lyrical build up is a nice juxtaposition to the bass later in the song that is somehow unlike the typical Kaskade track, which I appreciate.
2)Kaskade vs. Tiësto, Swanky Tunes & Dyro – Room For Noise (Kaskade's EDC Chicago Mash Up)
Containing perhaps the most high profile artists in terms of house music, the EDC Chicago mash up has a somewhat similar lyrically focused buildup, but taking a slightly longer amount of time before the drop, I would say this tracks has the most high energy and fast paced melody. While each of the artists certainly have their own unique styles and what not added in the song, it's done really organically
3)Kaskade vs. Martin Garrix & Victor Niglio – Turn It Down Animals (Kaskade's Festival Mash Up)
Certainly the last thing I thought to hear among these tracks was an intense trappy xylaphone-ish breakdown, but I'm not even going to lie, I was delightfully surprised. Counterbalanced with the signature vocals and slow build ups of the other three tracks, the Festival mashup certainly knows that the crowd going to be playing to is probably already plenty grimy at that point, and getting any more so would be welcomed.
All in all, I was happy to hear some Kaskade experiment with different styles, as is the nature of mashups. Here's to hoping that more experimentation leads to a blending of styles in the future. Make sure to stop by Kaskade's Soundcloud for a free download of each of the tracks along with others.
