Borgeous, DM & LM, DVBBS – Stampede (Borgeous Edits)

Setting the original version of “Stampede” up against the Frankie Sanchez & Lookas remix, Miami born producer/DJ Borgeous has released the newest adaptation of his popular track on soundcloud.

The original song created by Borgeous , Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Dvbbs was released on Spinnin Records back in October and since then has been remixed by Frankie Sanchez & Lookas. Both edits have been blended into this one, but with the addition of accapella vocals from the Krewella’s hit “Alive”, which lays down the initial soft foundation that eventually drops into an engaging trap sound allowing all three songs to set together smoothly.

The solid combination has previously been used in Borgeous’ live sets but is now available to fans for free with a facebook like.

If you weren’t already following the “Stampede” saga, it’s worth catching up on. The original track was a straight-up festival wrecker, built off that massive Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike vs. DVBBS & Borgeous team-up that had crowds losing it every time the drop hit. Once a track blows up that hard on the festival circuit, it’s basically guaranteed to spawn a pile of remixes and bootlegs, and that’s exactly what happened here, with Frankie Sanchez & Lookas throwing their own spin on it not long after the original dropped.

What makes this particular version stand out is how Borgeous went about mashing everything together. Instead of just picking one remix over the other, he took elements from both and stitched them into a single edit, then layered in the a cappella from Krewella’s “Alive” — a track that was already an anthem in its own right at the time — to build out a softer intro before the trap-leaning drop kicks back in. It’s the kind of mashup move that only really works live, where a DJ can read the crowd and land the transition perfectly, which makes sense given Borgeous had apparently already been testing it out in his own sets before deciding to share it with everyone else.

Giving it away for a simple Facebook like was also a pretty standard move for producers around this era — free downloads gated behind a like or follow were everywhere in the early-to-mid 2010s EDM blog scene, and it was a solid way for artists to grow their following while still giving fans something to bang in their own sets.

Editor’s note: the original Facebook “like-gate” download link is preserved above as it was originally published; Facebook’s app platform for like-gated downloads has since been discontinued, so the link may no longer function as intended.
