The music streaming service Spotify recently confirmed expanding their business by receiving an additional $250 million round of funding. Spotify has received much negative attention though from artists questioning whether the service is actually good for the musician or not. To further explain their rightsholder payout, Spotify has created the Spotify Artists Website which connects Spotify with the musicians. The website aims to make their payouts more transparent as well as update the artists about news in regards to the platform.
Spotify has not stopped with just a new blog site for the musicians, but now they have officially teamed up with Next Big Sound to create a dashboard for artists and managers to have real-time access to their data regarding their music on the platform.
In 2013, Spotify confirmed that they have paid out over $500 million in royalties to music rightsholders.
