I woud like to introduce you all to DeeJay A-Rock. If your not familiar with the veteran dj based out of Orlando, Florida it's time to get on board. Recently I had the chance to meet up with him and ask A-Rok a few questions outside of Vintage Lounge this past Wednesday.
Myles: How are you enjoying Central Flordia?
A-Rock: It's great! Orlando is like a giant melting pot as well as me being a native, the music scene is wonderful here.
Myles: How did you go about being a college baseball player to a DJ?
A-Rock: I was constantly traveling from city to city to even across the country playing baseball. As a hobby I decided to purchase a pair of decks and a mixer. When I had any spare time at all, I was constantly collecting records and mixing them.
Myles: Who are some of your influences
A-Rock: Beat Junkies, Scratch Pickles, Executioners
Myles: What is your next upcoming show?
A-Rock: I will be playing at TAO tommorw in Las Vegas. It will be my first show in Viva Las Vegas and I think its truly and DJ's dream come true to play in an environment like that.
Myles: We are standing outside of a notorious venue is Orlando, “Vintage” what exactly does it mean to you?
A-Rock: Vintage is a second home to me! Its unlike any other venue, super intimate spot. Every thursday it feels like I am stepping into my living. I get to play music I wanna hear, they wanna hear, it's an everyone wins kind of scenario.
Myles: So I see you have an upcoming Florida tour with The Knocks?
A-Rock: Yes I do! I will be playing alongside with them in Gainesville and Orlando. Those guys are great and looking forward to how that goes.
Myles: What is your dream venue to play at?
A-Rock:I have played Mansion to Lure in L.A. but there are a few dream places I haven't had a chance to do yet. Webster Hall and Coachella are some venues I would love to play at. Besides that I am just going with the flow.
Myles: Last but not least feel free to go check him out at his next show this Thursday at Vintage Lounge!
