Jus Jack and Oza ft. Blessed Union of Souls – Love is the Answer
Yesterday the newly formed duo of electro up and comers Jus Jack and Oza released a remix of Blessed Union of Souls’ 1995 pop hit “I Believe”, entitled “Love is the Answer”. Starting with a trancey horn echo and symbol bang the beat builds like a normal club hit, until the sound drops to a single synth piano progression and the all too familiar “Soul” lyrics click in.
The song continues to build from there adding the group’s signature pinging electric bounce. An anthem sure to prove itself with the club staples of years past, such as Avicii’s “Levels” and Alesso‘s “Years”, it’s already received the seal of approval from Tiesto’s Musical Freedom label. Proceeds for download on Beatport are also going to be donated to a great charity that the group will announce soon.
That Musical Freedom co-sign turned out to be a big deal — the track landed a proper release on Tiësto’s imprint and has been available on Beatport as “Love Is The Answer (feat. Blessid Union Of Souls) (Tiësto Remix)” ever since. Musical Freedom has built a reputation as one of dance music’s go-to launchpads for up-and-coming producers, so having a brand new duo’s very first collaboration picked up by the label is a real co-sign, not just a nice mention on a blog.
It’s a fitting resurrection for “I Believe,” too, which was a genuine top-10 pop and adult contemporary hit back in 1995, long before anyone involved was thinking about club drops or festival mainstages. Hearing that hook rebuilt around a synth-piano breakdown and an electro-house bounce is exactly the kind of nostalgia play that was working so well for the genre back in 2013, when producers everywhere were digging through 90s and early 2000s pop for the next big sample flip.
For a first outing as a duo, Jus Jack and Oza picked a smart lane — take a song most people already know the words to, rebuild the arrangement from the ground up, and let the original vocal do the emotional heavy lifting while the production handles the energy. Add in a charity component on top of the Beatport proceeds and you’ve got a release with more going for it than just a good drop.
