Calvin Harris Has 8 Top 10 Hits on ’18 Months’ Beating Out MJ

Calvin Harris has become the first musician to produce eight Top 10 singles ever, even beating out Michael Jackson. The DJ and Producer known as Calvin Harris went into the record books as of April 21st when his track with Ellie Goulding “I Need Your Love” rose from the number 11 spot to number seven.

Let that sink in for a second. We’re talking about a Scottish dude who started out making tracks in his bedroom, and he just out-charted the King of Pop. Before Calvin came along, Michael Jackson held the record with seven Top 10 hits off of “Bad,” a record that stood untouched for over two decades. Calvin didn’t just tie it, he smashed straight through it with “18 Months,” and he did it as a producer/artist crossing over from dance music into full-blown pop chart domination.

The album itself is stacked. “Sweet Nothing” with Florence Welch, “Feel So Close,” “Let’s Go” featuring Ne-Yo, “Drinking From The Bottle” with Tinie Tempah, “Thinking About You” with Ayah Marar, “We’ll Be Coming Back” with Example, and “Under Control” with Alesso and Hurts all landed in the Top 10 before “I Need Your Love” made it number eight. That’s not luck, that’s a guy who figured out how to make dance-pop that regular radio listeners and festival kids could both get behind.
