EDM Sauce: The Spice Episode 14 ft. Nexus
:::Nexus Biography:::
Nexus is a 19 year old from Miami Beach, Florida. He currently lives in Orlando, Florida focusing on writing new music and getting his education at Full Sail University. Nexus has been producing for the past 3 years and says “It has been an incredible journey to see how my sound has evolved and also seeing the places it has taken me so far. I’m really excited for the future of Nexus. There are some big things in store.”
Why Full Sail Kept Turning Out EDM Talent
Full Sail University’s Orlando campus was quietly becoming a real pipeline for young electronic producers around this era, its recording arts and entertainment business programs gave up-and-coming artists like Nexus a technical foundation and industry connections that a lot of self-taught bedroom producers didn’t have access to. Being a 19-year-old balancing school with an actual release schedule and a recurring “House DJ” slot on EDM Sauce’s Spice series says a lot about how early some of this generation’s producers were getting serious, professional exposure.
The tracklist here is also a solid snapshot of where the more melodic, blog-house end of the scene was heading in late 2012, tracks from Pretty Lights and Flight Facilities sitting next to bass-leaning cuts from Deadmau5 and Fake Blood shows how genre-fluid a set like this could be without ever feeling disjointed. Producers like Nexus using a platform like this to build an audience one episode at a time, well before streaming algorithms existed to do that discovery work automatically, was pretty much the standard path for breaking into the scene back then.
Episode 14 also landing this deep into the Spice series’ run says something about how much staying power the format had, EDM Sauce was consistently giving rotating up-and-coming producers a recurring platform well over a year into the show, at a time when most blog-run mix series struggled to make it past a handful of episodes before losing steam.
