Sander Van Doorn

Sander van Doorn is one of the Netherlands’ longest-running dance music exports, a guy who’s been shaping the sound of Dutch house and progressive house since before “EDM” was even a phrase people used. Born Sander Ketelaars in Eindhoven back in 1979, he built his name in the mid-2000s as a remixer with serious range and a regular fixture at legendary parties like Ibiza’s Judgement Sunday and London’s Gallery. That run earned him Best Breakthrough DJ at the 2007 International Dance Music Awards, and from there his profile only grew.

His sound has never sat still. Van Doorn started out in tech-house and progressive house territory before shifting into the bigger, more vocal-driven electro house and EDM sound that defined a lot of the 2010s mainstage era. His two albums, Supernaturalistic (2008) and Eleve11 (2011), track that evolution, and singles like “Gold Skies,” “Phoenix,” and “Cuba Libre” kept him in rotation at festivals worldwide well into the mid-2010s. Along the way he’s remixed an unusually wide range of artists, from Arctic Monkeys and Lady Gaga to Sia and Tiësto, and linked up on original productions with the likes of Martin Garrix, DVBBS, and R3hab.

In 2007 he launched Doorn Records, his own imprint that’s served as a home for his own music and a launching pad for other artists over the years. He also ran Identity, a radio show that started monthly on Digitally Imported in 2013 before growing into a weekly broadcast syndicated across more than 70 stations globally, a serious platform that ran for the better part of a decade before wrapping up in late 2021.

Van Doorn hasn’t slowed down since. He’s kept releasing music under his own name, including “No Limit To Our Love” with Jantine, and has continued touring and exploring other aliases along the way. Few Dutch producers have stuck around this long while still sounding current, and Sander van Doorn’s catalog, from progressive house roots to electro house anthems, is proof he’s earned his spot as one of the scene’s true veterans.
