Lupe Fuentes made the jump into house music in 2010, and she’s been building a genuine career behind the decks ever since. Her sound leans into the house influences she grew up around, shaped by her Latin heritage and the electronic scene she experienced firsthand in Spanish clubs. It’s club-focused, groove-driven production, built for the dancefloor rather than the algorithm.
Her first big moment as a producer came with “So High,” released on Brobot Records in the spring of 2014 — a label run by Junior Sanchez, who became one of her early mentors alongside house legends Roger Sanchez and Todd Terry. That’s serious pedigree for someone just getting started, and it showed in how quickly she started landing releases. “Don’t Hold Back” followed on Undercool Productions, and she kept the momentum going with tracks on Defined Music, Nervous, and Inhouse. Later that year she linked up with Run-DMC’s Darryl McDaniels for “Get Down,” released in December 2014 — a genuinely unexpected but fun crossover that showed she wasn’t afraid to mix lanes.
On the performance side, 2014 was a breakout year across the board. She played Exchange LA in February, hit Drai’s Afterhours in Las Vegas that March, and opened for Oscar G at Pacha NYC that June — the kind of run that gets a young producer taken seriously in the house scene. Before fully committing to DJing and production, she’d also fronted the pop group The Ex-Girlfriends starting in 2012, putting out a couple of singles before pivoting hard into house music, which turned out to be the right call.
What stands out with Lupe Fuentes is the mentorship pedigree paired with her own hustle — getting cosigns from Roger Sanchez, Junior Sanchez, and Todd Terry doesn’t happen by accident. She’s carved out her own lane in house music built on legit studio work and a real club résumé, and that foundation is still paying off for her production career today.
