Bro Safari
Bro Safari has one of the more interesting origin stories in bass music. Born Nicholas Weiller in Rome, Italy, he grew up mostly in Atlanta, Georgia, and cut his teeth as a drummer in the drum and bass trio Evol Intent starting back in 2000. It wasn’t until 2008 that the Bro Safari alias came together, a mashup of “broseph” and “rastafari,” and that’s when things really started clicking.
Once he made the jump into moombahton, trap, and dubstep, Bro Safari became a genuine bass music heavyweight. He linked up with UFO! for two full-length records, “Animal” in 2013 and “Clockwork” in 2018, and built out a remix resume that includes reworks for Skrillex, M.I.A., and Flux Pavilion. Singles like “Follow” and “Reality,” the latter featuring Sarah Hudson, kept him a fixture on festival lineups and bass-heavy radio shows throughout the 2010s. In 2022 he teamed with Kill The Noise and Tasha Baxter for “As Above So Below,” adding another collab to a catalog full of them.
What makes Bro Safari’s story stand out, though, is what came after. He’s been open about stepping away from music for a stretch, sharing that burnout and substance struggles led him to disappear from shows for years, not knowing if he’d ever get back on stage. He’s since talked about working through it in therapy and rediscovering why he loved making music in the first place. That comeback became real on June 7, 2025, when he played his first set in five years alongside longtime collaborator Armanni Reign during Tape B’s Brooklyn Mirage takeover.
These days Bro Safari calls Austin, Texas home, and his return to the stage is one of the more genuinely feel-good stories in bass music right now. After building a legacy on hard-hitting trap and dubstep cuts throughout the 2010s, he’s back doing what he does best, and the bass community has welcomed him with open arms.
