Benny Benassi

Benny Benassi has been shaping the sound of electro house since before most of the genre’s current stars were born. Born Marco Benassi in Milan in 1967 and raised in Reggio Emilia, Italy, he first got attention working alongside his cousin Alessandro as the duo Benassi Bros., and scored an early hit under the alias KMC with “I Feel So Fine” in 2001. But the real turning point came in 2002 with “Satisfaction” — a track that climbed to number 2 on the UK Singles Chart and basically wrote the blueprint for electro house as a genre. That squelchy, filthy bassline is still instantly recognizable more than two decades later.

His solo debut album, Hypnotica, dropped in 2003 and picked up the European Border Breakers Award, further establishing him as one of the genre’s genuine pioneers rather than a one-hit novelty. He kept building from there with Rock ‘n’ Rave in 2008, Electroman in 2011, and Danceaholic in 2016, each one pushing his sound into new corners while never losing the punchy, hard-hitting production that made him a name in the first place.

Benassi’s reach has gone well beyond dance floors, too. He’s produced and remixed for Madonna, Chris Brown, Kelis, Iggy Pop, John Legend, and Serj Tankian, and his 2008 remix of a Public Enemy track actually took home a Grammy. He cracked the top 30 of DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs poll in 2009 and has run his own label, Pump-Kin Music, for years — a home base for keeping his output consistent even as trends in dance music have shifted around him multiple times over.

And he’s not slowing down. In 2025 alone, Benassi landed a rework with ARTBAT, “Love Is Gonna Save Us,” that hit number 1 on 1001 Tracklists, and followed it up with “Feel The Bass,” a new single on Ultra Records that dropped at the end of July. It’s a track built for peak-time sets — big bassline, punchy drums, atmospheric synths — that leans into his electro house roots while still sounding current. For an artist who’s been in the game since the early 2000s, that’s the kind of longevity most producers can only dream about. Benny Benassi didn’t just help build electro house — he’s still out here proving he can keep up with it.
