Popular Electronic Music media conglomerate and record label; Run the Trap just premiered an interesting and complex new track by Netherlands' native Jengi Beats. Jengi Beats is relatively new on the scene, only being about 20 years old. He started producing his own songs back two years ago and since has accumulated some 25K followers on his soundcloud. A few weeks ago, the artist's first EP, Colors, was released on iTunes and Spotify by the UK label YouTellMe. And just last week, Run the Trap premiered the second track from the four track EP; Jeepie.
The track is so unique, which is crucial for new artists to breakthrough in todays electronic music scene. It's hard to categorize this song by genre other than electronic and very experimental. There is a multitude of familiar sounds that pop in and out throughout the short three minute track. Jengi remasters a catchy vocal melody line throughout the song with many different layering and echoing effects that have your brain following it where ever it goes. Our favorite part of the track is the friendly and warm sounding xylophone that acts as a foil to the mysterious vocal mastering. To us it almost sounds like that nintendo game from our childhood, Animal Crossing.
Another artist who has a similar vibe to Jengi is Grynpyret. Check out his song, and one of our favorites, Boba Beach. These two main melodic sounds seasoned with many various 808's, snares and drums creates the perfect mix of uniquenesses that is heard through Jengi's entire EP.
Lucky for you Jengi Beat's EP Colors is on spotify for your free listening pleasures. We hope to hear more from this breakout Dutch artist in the future. His sound is something calm and southing we can use more, and definitely makes for some unique study music.
