Pasquale Rotella Says He’ll Take EDC Out Of Las Vegas If Taxes Go Any Higher

Raves and music festivals are rarely built to last. That's the case for many of today's music events, except for Insomniac Events' Electric Daisy Carnival that takes place in Las Vegas year after year.

When Las Vegas decided to welcome Electric Daisy Carnival to its grounds back in 2011, Pasquale Rotella of Insomniac Events was ecstatic. After bringing in billions of dollars to the local economy, the state of Nevada is testing the relationship.

Last year, Nevada passed a 9% tax on tickets for live entertainment events. The tax was meant for events just like Electric Daisy Carnival and Burning Man. In turn, EDC raised its prices, but not without explaining to his attendees the reason why he had to raise the prices.

Pasquale Rotella said “We don’t want our crowd alienated, and we’ve been doing our best to represent their interests.” Rotella went on to say that Insomniac would “absolutely” consider moving EDC if taxes ever put ticket prices too high.
