Kaelin Ellis – Moments

With over 10+ years of performance and hands-on creative experience under his belt, Kaelin Ellis is a multi-platinum music producer that has established himself among the top class of producers in the modern electronic / hip-hop beat scene.  Formerly known as mr.mockwell, he was originally part of an online crew, dubbed “loaflab”, where he came in contact with fellow musicians and later collaborative-partners, Kaytranada, Sango and many more. Kaelin also has many production credits with other artists such as Lupe Fiasco, Waldo, Sango, Deffie and K-Pop supergroup ‘Exo' on their song “Jekyll”.  Since the beginning of his musical journey, he’s managed to upkeep a discography that sonically keeps up to many of his heroes.

Last week Kaelin released a new 12-track-project called Moments that once again shows off his versatility and production skill-set. The project was created over past 6 months via his Twitter feed and since has been polished together into this body of work. One particular track caught the eye of Lupe Fiasco, who recorded a verse over the instrumental and shared it on his Twitter account. Within a few hours of it’s release, Okayplayer named his song “SWIM” (off of Moments) one of the best songs of the week stating.. “Silk-smooth and swung-to-death, this standout from Kaelin Ellis’ new instrumental project, ‘Moments’, is yet another signal of an emerging guard of increasingly sophisticated, socials-savvy producers bubbling up through the algorithm.” Check out the full project below now if you are a fan of music by anyone on the Soulection roster, Kaytranada or generally hip-hop infused electronic style music.
