Flume Announces He Is Dropping A New Mixtape Tomorrow – ‘Hi This Is Flume’

Flume has been cheekily teasing the release of new music on his social media for the past few weeks. Just when the teasing got to be almost too much, he hit us with an official announcement. Tomorrow, he will be releasing a new mixtape, aptly named – ‘Hi This Is Flume’.
Flume Expected To Drop New Mixtape Tomorrow, 3/20
The mixtape marks the first release from Flume since the companion EPs to his Grammy-Award winning LP, Skin. The announcement was immediately celebrated by fans and peers alike. It doesn’t matter who you are in the world of dance music. When Flume announces he has some new music dropping, you stop everything and start to hyperventilate with excitement.
What the mixtape will consist of is still a secret, but we have to imagine that we will be getting a decent amount of unreleased, never before heard tracks. The countdown is on…less than 24 hours to go. Check out the official announcement below.

How ‘Hi This Is Flume’ Actually Turned Out
Flume delivered, and then some. The mixtape landed the next day as a 17-track surprise release, leaning hard into the experimental, bass-heavy side of his production instead of chasing radio hits. It brought back collaborators from the Skin era like Kucka, while also pulling in new names like SOPHIE, Eprom, and JPEGMAFIA. A few tracks, including “Jewel” and the “Amber” ID (which fans had already heard live as the “Falls” ID back in 2017), had been floating around his live sets for a while before finally getting an official release.
Critics loved it too. The mixtape debuted at #9 on the US Dance/Electronic Albums chart before climbing to #2 the following week, cracked the Billboard 200 at #185, and even reached #11 on both the Australian and New Zealand album charts. It went on to earn Flume a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, his second nomination in that category. Reviewers praised the accompanying visuals from longtime collaborator Jonathan Zawada as being just as essential to the experience as the music itself. Turns out the hype was worth it, and then some.
