Steve Aoki Drops Massive Remix Pack For Neon Future III

Just 4 months after dropping his chart-topping album “Neon Future III”, Steve Aoki is back with a MASSIVE 10 track remix pack for the album. Featuring remixes from some of the biggest names in the industry including Matoma, DVBBS, Alan Walker, Yves V, Will Sparks & even Aoki himself, this package is full of some major heat.

Aoki’s Neon Future series has always doubled as a chance for him to flex just how wide his musical Rolodex actually is, and this remix pack is no different. Stacking a lineup like Matoma, DVBBS, Alan Walker, Yves V, and Will Sparks onto one release means you’re getting tropical house flips sitting right next to big room bangers and future bass reworks, all pulled from the same source material. It’s basically a highlight reel of where mainstage dance music was at in early 2019, filtered entirely through Aoki’s own catalog.

Each remixer brings something different to the table too. Will Sparks, never one to shy away from a hard-hitting electro edit, gives his pick a punchier festival-ready low end, while a melodic producer like Matoma tends to lean the other direction, softening the drops into something built more for a sunset set than a 2am mainstage slot. That range is really the whole appeal of a pack like this — you get to hear the same handful of songs pulled in a dozen different directions depending on who’s behind the fader.

While I dig all of the remixes, my personal favorite is Aoki’s own “182 Bottles Of Beer On The Wall” remix of “Why Are We So Broken” featuring Blink-182. With massive golden age Aoki vibes, this remix brings some heavy electro-infused stabs and speaker shaking big room bass. This club rocking sound is always what stood out for Aoki and makes him headline festivals across the world.

Considering the original “Why Are We So Broken” was already one of the more unexpected pairings on Neon Future III — pop-punk royalty linking up with one of dance music’s biggest names — hearing Aoki flip his own collaboration into something built for the club is a pretty fun full-circle moment. It’s also a good reminder that even with a decade-plus career and a nonstop touring schedule, Aoki still treats remix packages like this one as an excuse to get back in the studio and mess around, rather than just farming the work out entirely.

Give the whole 10-track pack a spin above and below, and if Neon Future III somehow slipped past you the first time around, this remix collection is a pretty solid way to catch up on it before whatever Aoki drops next.
