Khalid Releases The New Single Produced By Disclosure - 'Talk'

Disclosure rocked the world early in 2017 when they announced they would be taking an indefinite hiatus from performing live. By the end of that year, it was clear the break was well worth it for fans when the brothers cranked out a series of funky and outstanding new singles.

Disclosure had started to crop up on festival lineups once again in 2019, and now we got to hear new music created by the UK duo. The new single the guys produced for Khalid was called “Talk.” The gentle, driving beat was filled with classic R&B vibes as well as funky future and house elements. This single had clearly been meticulously crafted to stand out from the pack.

Khalid’s brilliant vocals helped this tune get elevated past the status quo. This one might have fallen off dance music fans’ radars since Disclosure wasn’t in the byline, but make no mistake — the brothers’ signature style is featured considerably in this tune. Check it out below.

“Talk” Became Way Bigger Than a Deep Cut

“Talk” ended up being one of the biggest crossover moments of Khalid’s career. It topped Billboard’s Pop Songs airplay chart and became one of the longest-running No. 1s on the R&B Songs chart at the time, proving that Disclosure’s production touch translated just as well to pop and R&B radio as it did to festival mainstages. The song later appeared on Khalid’s sophomore album, “Free Spirit,” which dropped in April 2019 and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving him his first chart-topping album.

For Disclosure, “Talk” was proof their hiatus hadn’t slowed down their hit-making at all. Guy and Howard Lawrence kept collaborating steadily with vocalists across pop, R&B, and dance in the years that followed, eventually building toward their acclaimed 2020 album “Energy,” which arrived stacked with guest features and cemented their return to the spotlight. It’s a good example of how a group can step back from the road without ever really stepping back from the studio — something that plenty of artists talk about but few actually pull off as smoothly as Disclosure did here. Not bad at all for a duo that some fans worried had gone quiet for good.
