The Chainsmokers spoke to Billboard at the 2018 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show’s red carpet. During the interview, the duo i.e. Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart discussed working with singer/songwriter Kelsea Ballerini and their upcoming ‘Paris'-inspired film.
“Thank god we have Kelsea with us cause she’s the ultimate angel,” said Taggart after expressing how nervous he was to perform. “She does all the work. She’s got the greatest voice ever.”
Later in the interview he explained their upcoming romance film inspired by the song ‘Paris.’ Mickey Rapkin, an author whose books inspired ‘Glee’ and ‘Pitch Perfect’, heard the song and felt a romance film could come out of it. After writing the initial screenplay, Rapkin and the Chainsmokers revised the script for about a year before pitching it to film studios. TriStar Pictures, a film company owned by Sony Pictures and responsible for films like ‘Baby Driver’ and ‘District 9,’ bought the script.
Other than the upcoming film, the Chainsmokers production company, Kick the Habit, is working on additional projects. These projects span television, film, and Internet content.
“It’s all over the place. It’s great for us because it gives us another way to be creative,” explained Taggart. “When you do one thing creative you can get creative blocks. This is another place we can put our creative efforts.”
