Yesterday, September 7, 2018, Mac Miller passed away from an apparent drug overdose. Immediately following the news there was an outpouring of emotion around the rapper's passing. Unfortunately, many news sources used his recent break up with vocalist Ariana Grande as a talking point in the artist's death.
The two dated for quite a while before their very public break-up. A general misunderstanding of addiction and unfortunate sexism drove many outlets to place part of the blame from the artist's overdose on Grande.

Fighting through the amount of backlash from social media and news outlets alike, Grande has broken her silence since her friend has passed. She did so with a heartfelt image through her social media. There was no caption included or needed. To be honest, she deserves the privacy to grieve the artist's passing however she likes, but the tribute was touching, brief and meaningful.
