Skrillex Opens Up His Set In Japan With A Highly Anticipated ID [LISTEN]

This past weekend Brownies & Lemonade and Skrillex traveled over to Japan for an explosive show. Needless to say, the set was unbelievable for many reasons. Skrillex held nothing back, and the excitement around his upcoming releases is at a fever pitch level.

To make things even more exciting Skrillex opened up his set with an incredibly anticipated unreleased single. Artists such as Kayzo, Black Tiger Sex Machine, and even Martin Solveig jumped on the post to exclaim their excitement around the release.

The Brownies & Lemonade Japan run has quickly become one of those parties that everyone in dance music seems to know about even if they weren’t there — the crew has built a reputation for booking exactly the kind of intimate, high-energy after-hours sets where artists tend to test out material they wouldn’t necessarily debut on a festival mainstage. Skrillex opening cold with a brand new, completely unheard ID instead of easing into the set says a lot about how confident he was in the record.

It also fits the moment. Skrillex has spent the last couple years teasing an avalanche of new music without a firm release plan attached to most of it, dropping IDs in sets around the world and letting the crowd reaction do the talking before anything official gets announced. Watching artists as respected as Kayzo, Black Tiger Sex Machine, and Martin Solveig hop into the comments to co-sign the record only adds to the sense that whatever this is, it’s the real deal.

Will we hear this bonkers ID before the end of 2018? Nobody can be perfectly sure, but we know Skrillex is sitting on a boatload of new dance music, and by almost all accounts he will once again revolutionize EDM as we know it. Check out the video below.

Editor’s note: as of this update, we haven’t been able to confirm whether this specific ID ever received an official title or release — Skrillex has a long history of premiering IDs live long before (or instead of) ever putting them out formally. If that changes, we’ll come back and update this post.
