Kygo and Imagine Dragons New Single Sounds Incredible
Earlier this week Kygo dropped the news that he had an upcoming collaboration with Imagine Dragons. We were shocked that the tropical house pioneer was finally teaming up with one of alt rock’s biggest sensations, and we were equally as shocked that the news didn’t leak before its release week!
After teasing the album art on social media, Kygo finally let his fans have a taste of the upcoming collaboration. Even though the clip below is only 15 short seconds, the song’s energy can immediately be felt. The vocals are incredible, the melody sounds instantly infectious, and overall it seems that the collaboration has a euphoric, uplifting quality many fans were hoping for. We cannot wait until this one drops in just over 24 hours.

Update: “Born to Be Yours” officially arrived on June 15th, 2018, and it lived up to the hype the preview promised. The track landed on the international deluxe edition of Imagine Dragons’ fourth studio album, Origins, and it went on to become a legitimate hit across the globe. It charted inside the top 10 in a handful of countries, including Ireland, the Netherlands, and Slovenia, and climbed as high as number 4 in Poland. Stateside, it cracked Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, and it eventually picked up gold and platinum certifications in markets like Austria, Canada, France, Germany, and Italy.
It’s honestly one of the more unexpected pairings we’ve seen come out of the genre-blending era of the late 2010s, but that’s kind of Kygo’s whole thing at this point. The Norwegian producer has made a habit of pulling massive rock and pop acts into his tropical house world, and this one landed just as smoothly as his work with Selena Gomez, OneRepublic, and Whitney Houston’s estate. Imagine Dragons, for their part, were coming off the massive success of “Believer” and “Thunder,” so pairing their stadium-sized vocals with Kygo’s warm, melodic production made a ton of sense on paper, and it paid off just as well in practice.
If you slept on this one back in 2018, it’s well worth revisiting now that the dust has settled. It’s one of those rare crossover collabs that actually holds up.
