Martin Garrix Reveals Cover Art And Release Date For Collaboration With Khalid
Martin Garrix has been the talk of the town recently mainly due to his upcoming collaboration with dance music’s new favorite vocalist – Khalid. After high profile collabs with Marshmello and Calvin Harris, Khalid has been in incredibly high demand.
For good reason too; his silky soft vocals and incredible range has helped him stand out from the pack since day one. His upcoming record with Martin Garrix is called ‘Ocean’ and is dropping this Friday, June 15.
The pair also released what the cover art will be for the single. It is both artists standing boldly in more leather than most will be comfortable with. I guess they say black never goes out of style. Check out the cover art below and stay tuned for Friday.

‘Ocean’ Went On To Become One Of Garrix’s Biggest Records
Turns out the hype was justified. ‘Ocean’ dropped on June 15, 2018 via Garrix’s own STMPD RCRDS and later landed on his debut studio album, The Martin Garrix Experience. The track climbed to number 4 in Ireland, number 7 in the Netherlands, cracked the top 15 in Denmark, Austria, Spain, Switzerland and Norway, and hit number 25 on the US Hot 100 along with a number 10 spot on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart.
It didn’t stop at chart positions either – ‘Ocean’ went on to earn multi-platinum certifications across a huge list of countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Poland, the UK and the US. The music video, filmed in a warehouse in Hamilton, Ontario, has racked up hundreds of millions of views since release. Not bad for a single that was first teased with nothing more than a cover shot of two guys in matching leather jackets.
Looking back, ‘Ocean’ fits into a run of huge vocal-led singles Garrix put out around that stretch of his career, all building toward the eventual release of The Martin Garrix Experience. Pairing with Khalid made a ton of sense at the time too – Khalid was fresh off collaborations with Marshmello and Calvin Harris and quickly becoming one of the most in-demand voices in dance music, so putting his vocals over Garrix’s production was about as safe a bet as you could make. Years later, ‘Ocean’ still gets pulled out in festival sets as one of the defining Garrix records of that era.
