Watch and Listen to New Rezz ID “Life & Death”
Rezz dropped a new unreleased ID that fans immediately started calling “Life & Death.” A lucky fan caught a snippet of the performance as Rezz dropped the future hit, and it spread across Rezz’s fanbase within hours.
No one was certain at first if the track was officially created by the Space Queen herself or if it was a currently-in-the-works collaboration. Truthfully, it sounded exactly like her style, so fans were pretty convinced it was hers all along.
Fans were hoping the new track would end up on her next album. This ID was already the kind that fans fall hard for, so hopefully it would make it onto the long-awaited project.

Turns out the mystery didn’t last long
Fans got their answer a little over a year later. “Life & Death” was in fact a collaboration — a team-up between Rezz and fellow bass producer Deathpact, and the finished track officially landed on August 3, 2018 through Rezz’s home label, mau5trap. It’s a filthy, hypnotic dubstep cut clocking in around 130 BPM, and it lived up to every bit of hype from that grainy festival clip.
The song ended up as track four on Rezz’s second studio album, Certain Kind of Magic, an eight-track project that leaned even harder into the dark, hypnotic sound design she’d been building her whole career around. The album brought together a handful of collaborators beyond Deathpact, including 1788-L, Kotek, 13, and Fytch, continuing Rezz’s habit of spotlighting artists working in her orbit rather than chasing big-name features.
Certain Kind of Magic followed her 2017 debut Mass Manipulation and helped cement Rezz as one of the defining voices in midtempo bass music heading into the end of the decade. So for anyone who fell in love with that snippet back in May 2018, the wait paid off — “Life & Death” is out there in full, exactly as heavy as that clip promised, and it’s still a staple in her live sets to this day.
