Tiesto Plays 12 Minute Avicii Tribute At EDC Las Vegas Complete With Live Vocals From Aloe Blacc

EDC Las Vegas is a time for the electronic music community to come together and celebrate the amazing genre. But something was missing this year, as it will be for every year to come. Avicii passed away a month ago today and for many, it still seems unbelievable. While we have seen many Avicii tributes during smaller club sets and massive festivals like Coachella before, Tiesto took near 15 minutes during his EDC Las Vegas set last night to celebrate the life of the legend.

Tiesto Honors Avicii At EDC Las Vegas

Tiesto took almost 15 minutes from his set to honor Avicii. It was an incredible tribute that featured all Avicii’s biggest hits. One of the most touching moments was when Aloe Blacc came out to give a live performance of Avicii’s hit, ‘Wake Me Up’. It was definitely an emotional moment for the crowd and Tijs alike. Tiesto helped champion Avicii’s music very early on in his career and watched him evolve as an artist.

Watch the amazing tribute from Tiesto’s set below.

A Bond That Went Back Years

Tiesto wasn’t just paying respect to a peer, he was one of the first major names in dance music to champion Avicii’s records when Tim was still an unknown teenager posting tracks online. That early support helped put Avicii on festival lineups that would have otherwise been out of reach, and the two stayed close as Avicii’s career exploded. Getting Aloe Blacc out for a live “Wake Me Up” wasn’t just a nice touch either, Blacc’s vocals on that track helped define one of the biggest crossover hits dance music has ever produced, and hearing it live at EDC hit different for a crowd still processing the loss.

Tributes That Kept Coming

Tiesto’s set was far from the only one, EDC Las Vegas 2018 saw multiple artists work Avicii tracks into their sets that weekend as the festival community collectively mourned. It became one of the more visible examples of how deeply Avicii’s music was woven into the DNA of festival culture, not just as chart hits but as records that DJs across every subgenre wanted to pay respect to. Moments like this one are part of why his catalog still gets played out regularly years later.
