David Guetta And Sean Paul Collaborate On The Dance Hall Single - 'Mad Love'

David Guetta has worked tirelessly one several high profile collaborations over the past several years. He has worked outside of EDM so frequently that Guetta is one of the most recognizable cross over producers for the pop paradigm. Here’s a fun fact, when it comes to DJ’s he absolutely and by far has the most amount of Facebook likes. Like 50 million plus, which is actually f*cking absurd. It demonstrates one thing – when Guetta produces, the world stops and listens. In his latest release he produced a track featuring Sean Paul and it is steeped in dance hall vibes.

In ‘Mad Love’ Becky G and Sean Paul trade verses back and forth as Guetta perfectly creates a hypnotic beat. This is a tune we have definitely heard in different packages before. While it does not scream originality it certainty gets the body moving. If you don’t find yourself moved to dance with this track, then your feet might just be broken. Check it out below.

The Numbers Backed Up The Hype

‘Mad Love’ didn’t just get bodies moving, it actually put up real chart numbers. The track debuted at number nine on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, racking up 1.4 million US streams and 13,000 downloads in its very first tracking week. That debut mattered for everyone involved too: it was Sean Paul’s first-ever top 10 on that chart as a lead artist, and Becky G’s first appearance on it at all. For Guetta, it was his ninth top 10 entry on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, tying him with The Chainsmokers and Zedd for the second-most all time behind only Calvin Harris.

It makes sense when you think about it. Guetta has spent his whole career translating global sounds into festival-ready pop, and pairing that instinct with Sean Paul’s dancehall pedigree and Becky G’s crossover pull was basically a guaranteed hit formula. Sean Paul has been putting dancehall in front of pop audiences since “Get Busy” and “Temperature” made him a global star in the 2000s, and Becky G had already built a name for herself crossing between English and Spanish-language pop. ‘Mad Love’ might not reinvent the wheel sonically, but the chart math proves the formula still works every single time Guetta rolls it out.
