Don Diablo Shares Third Studio Album, The Massively Impressive ‘FUTURE’
Don Diablo has truly become one of the most impressive producers of electronic music as a whole. His reign of dominance began in 2017 when he started to continually produce beyond impressive tracks and releasing new tunes on what seemed like a weekly basis. Don was producing sounds that other artists could only dream of, and soon his success was recognized. As 2017 was meteoric for Don Diablo, 2018 is already off to an amazing start. On February 9th, 2018, Don Diablo released his third studio album aptly named ‘FUTURE’ and shocker! It is absolutely fantastic.
It is interesting when an album this good hits the scene this early in the year. It is hard not to listen to ‘FUTURE’ and ask yourself how anyone is going to be able to top it in terms of LP. It has the rich, infectious and fun sound that Don has become synonymous with, as well as some new and exciting aspects that were completely unexpected. Bravo to Don Diablo for crafting an album that truly stands out from the pack. ‘FUTURE’ is out of this world, just as Don demonstrated in his last live stream.
What Actually Made The Final Cut
The standard edition of ‘FUTURE’ clocked in at 16 tracks, pulling together singles Don had already been dropping throughout 2017 and 2018 like “Save a Little Love,” “Momentum,” and “Take Her Place” alongside brand new cuts. A deluxe edition followed later and tacked on “Believe,” a collab with actor-turned-singer Ansel Elgort. It’s a genuinely stacked tracklist for an artist who was putting out music at a pace most producers couldn’t sustain for one EP, let alone a full album.
A Mixed-But-Mostly-Glowing Reception
Billboard actually gave the record a pretty warm writeup, calling it a “beautiful ‘good vibes’ radiator” that welcomed the summer months early. That said, not every longtime fan was thrilled — some felt Don was drifting away from the future house sound that built his name in the first place, trading some of that club-ready energy for a poppier, more radio-friendly palette. Love it or not, ‘FUTURE’ ended up charting in multiple countries, including a spot on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart, cementing it as a genuine moment for Don Diablo rather than just another release.
