Watch Eric Prydz Throw Champagne And Beer On A Drunk Axwell After He Botches Mixing A Track

There have been some great memes this year. Still I want to do everything in my power to make Eric Prydz spritzing a drunk Axwell with water after he botches a transition the meme of the decade. In the video below you’ll see Prydz off to the side glare at Axwell with more disappointment than your mom looked at you after you came home rolling face after your first rave.
It only gets worse on the decks and eventually Eric is moved to just start throwing champagne and beer on Axwell like you would squirt a cat with water after it misbehaves. This is seriously the best 40 seconds of video I have watched in like an entire year. Check out the clip below and get ready to laugh. Poor Axwell, he cannot catch a W these past few days.
Here’s the twist though: this clip isn’t actually new footage. The original incident dates all the way back to 2008, filmed at an after-party following the Swedish Grammis (Sweden’s version of the Grammys). A reportedly intoxicated Axwell fumbled a transition behind the decks that night, which is exactly what set Prydz off. What made the clip go viral again nearly a decade later is that it got reposted to Reddit’s EDM community in early December 2017, and once it hit the front page there it spread across basically every dance music outlet within a day or two.
It’s a genuinely fun piece of scene history too, since Prydz and Axwell go way back as part of the same tight-knit Swedish house circle that also produced Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello. In fact, in the full clip Ingrosso is the one who actually manages to salvage the botched transition while Prydz is busy dousing Axwell, which makes the whole thing feel less like a fight and more like watching old friends clown on each other after a few too many drinks. There’s also a brief, mostly good-natured verbal exchange between the two after the champagne shower, which only adds to the “friends messing with friends” vibe of the whole clip rather than any real beef.
Given how tightly connected the Swedish house scene has always been, from Axwell Λ Ingrosso’s projects to Angello and Prydz’s respective solo careers, it’s a pretty charming throwback to watch four titans of the genre acting like regular guys getting a little too drunk at an afterparty. Almost ten years later, the internet clearly still finds it just as funny as everyone in the room did that night. Check out the clip below and get ready to laugh.
