New Getter Rap Collaboration Teaser

EDM’S favorite loud mouth, Getter, is currently in the midst of his ‘Big Mouth Tour’ across North America. This past weekend the artist played a sold-out New York City show with up and coming rapper $ki Mask The Slump God. Soon after the show, Getter shot out a tweet confirming of a soon to come collaboration between the artists. The tweet drove rampant hype and speculation around the alleged track but today is the first glimpse we have of the collaboration. Thanks to a tweet from @illchris we have a video of the artists in the studio, including rapper Chxpo in the cut. If it is evident from the preview it is that this track is going to be hot, be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled for it.

Getter’s Genre-Bending Streak Was Just Getting Started

This studio session was part of a bigger pattern for Getter, real name Tanner Petulla, who spent this era of his career pushing trap and dubstep production closer to hip-hop than almost anyone else in the scene. His willingness to work directly with rappers rather than just sampling their vocals set him apart from a lot of his peers, and it helped him build credibility in both the bass music world and the hip-hop scene at the same time, a crossover that wasn’t nearly as common back then as it is now.

A Tour Built On That Same Energy

The Big Mouth Tour that framed this whole story was itself a reflection of that same genre-blurring approach, packing bills with a mix of bass music acts and rap features rather than sticking to a typical EDM lineup. Whether or not this exact Chxpo and $ki Mask collaboration ever made it to an official release, sessions like this one were part of what built Getter’s reputation as an artist genuinely embedded in hip-hop culture rather than just borrowing from it for a single.
