Two Friends are one of the most exciting duos in electronic dance music at the moment. Matt and Eli have the ability to keep fans ravenous for their productions by releasing both brilliant original efforts and by taking on some of the most classic, nostalgia inducing hits of yesteryear as remixes. The guys picked up a majority of their initial following with a near perfect remix of Blink 182's ‘I Miss You' a couple years back. Since then, Two Friends also remixed classics like ‘Mr. Brightside' by The Killers and ‘Sleepyhead' by Passion Pit.
Remixing some of the most iconic songs of the past decade has a high risk/reward factor to it. On one hand you might end up with a massive success and perfect updated version of an already flawless track, on the other you could end up bastardizing the original and releasing an insulting flop. For this reason, I got pretty nervous when I heard Two Friends were taking on one of my favorite songs of all time – MGMT's timeless classic, ‘Kids'. ‘Kids' hits me in my feels so hard that I might as well be back in sophomore year of high school crying over a break up all over again.
Lucky for me, Matt and Eli once again demonstrated their production skill and pumped out an awesome remix of an already perfect track. Their take on ‘Kids' honors the original while also injecting their signature laid back west coast influenced style. Overall this risky remix paid off big time, check it out below.
