Paul van Dyk releases near flawless 8th studio album, ‘From Then On’

Iconic German trance producer & DJ Paul van Dyk has released his 8th album, a fantastic 14-track LP entitled ‘From Then On'. The album is another classic trance record from one of dance music’s most beloved and longest enduring artists.

Overcoming Tragedy

‘From Then On' was made in the months following a horrific accident in which van Dyk fell through a poorly designed stage during a headlining festival appearance in Europe in early 2016. Following months of recuperation, during which van Dyk was unsure if he’d ever be able to walk again let alone be making music and touring the world, van Dyk returned to the studio and began piecing together early ideas that would eventually evolve into the album. Having gone through one of the most unfortunate experience any performing artist could ever imagine, van Dyk emerged from the ordeal with a reinvigorated sense of purpose and rejuvenated passion for making music and sharing it with the world.

No Gimmicks, Just Trance

‘From Then On' is a collection of meaningful songs that is designed to re-invoke a sense of nostalgia for trance’s glory days in the late 90s and turn of the millennium. While a number of producers and DJs have gravitated to the pop-friendly sounds and format of EDM, Paul van Dyk has remained steadfast, delivering some of the most euphoric and uplifting sounds that trance music has to offer, both through his albums and in his exquisitely produced live show.

To pick one track that stands out is quite difficult as I've found myself listening to all 14 tracks at least 3 or 4 times so far. Of the 3 solo tracks, my favorite would have to be ‘I Am Alive‘, and my favorite of the 11 collaborations is the collab with M.I.K.E. Push & Fred Baker ‘Inhale'. Take a listen to the full album below and let us know what track is your personal favorite.

To celebrate the release of From Then On, Paul van Dyk has established a brand new live show, AEON by Paul van Dyk, specifically to present the new album to fans in a live format. AEON by Paul van Dyk debuted at the PlayStation Theatre in NYC in late September, and was met by rave reviews from the press and fans alike. The next performance of AEON by Paul van Dyk will be the headlining set at the Dreamstate SoCal festival in San Bernardino on November 24th.
