Andres Sierra Talks About His Latest LP “House Arrest” [Interview]

Andres Sierra is breaking into the up-and-coming scene faster than most artist in the past. Having already worked with artist like Shaun Frank and Laidback Luke, Andres Sierra has also already garnered over a million streams on a single and seen placement on the iTunes top 100 in Canada.

Now, he has just released his first LP titled “House Arrest”, which features the track “Why Do I (Still Love You)” which is a perfect bland of dance vibes and pop music. It available free download here, and you can stream it below.

I was able to catch up with Andres Sierra to talk to him about the LP and some of his influences. Check out the interview below.

How did the idea and theme of “House Arrest” come about?

“‘House Arrest' is a play on words. First, the album is heavily influenced by different types of house music, and second, as an independent artist trying to break into the music industry, I’ve experienced oppression of my creativity and freedom by those who have the power to elevate my career. Do I sacrifice the freedom to do what I want with my music and make little money now, or do I sign and risk being trapped if I can’t make back what they spent on my album? No thank you. It hasn’t been easy, but I have one of the best managers any artist could ever have and I have no doubt in my mind it’s all gonna pay off.”

Does your style come from multiple types of influences?

“I’m constantly listening to music. I’m obsessed with Spotify’s ability to recommend songs I’m actually going to like, so I’m always discovering new music and get excited when I hear something fresh. I can be listening to Toolroom Radio, or Fifth Harmony, Major Lazer or CamelPhat. It all inspires me.”

“I took a million classes when I was a kid. If I wasn’t in a vocal lesson, I was at a dance class, or a piano lesson, choir… those were the best years with the best moments. I wouldn’t be the artist I am today if it weren’t for all the incredible teachers who pushed me and inspired me to be the best I can be. Also, having the most supportive parents who worked so hard to pay for all those classes.”

Have you done other alias's than Andres Sierra before starting this progress?

“Nope. Always have and always will be Andres Sierra.”

Whats your plan for the rest of 2018?

“Promo for the album will be heavy into the new year which includes going on tour. I’m so excited to share these songs live and give people something they’re not expecting. I’ve trained my whole life for this moment and I’m ready to show everyone what I got.”
