Nicky Romero Dropped Martin Garrix’s Unreleased Single At Ultra Japan and It Sounds HUGE
Nicky Romero played an outstanding set at Ultra Japan last weekend. The set was high energy and full of new productions from both him and his many notable friends. One song that was an absolute show stopper was Martin Garrix’s upcoming release with Matisse and Sadko which is currently known as ‘Forever’.
The track has been heard in Garrix’s set rather sparingly and this rinse by Nicky Romero to the massive Ultra Japan audience definitely means the track’s release is in sight. We are hoping that this tune sees the light of day soon. Check out the moment when Nicky drops the tune in the video below.
For those keeping track, Ultra Japan went down September 16th through the 18th at Odaiba Ultra Park, and Nicky Romero’s set was one of the ones everyone kept talking about afterward. Getting a Garrix collab dropped in the middle of a b2b-heavy weekend like that is exactly the kind of moment that gets clipped and passed around Twitter for days, and it clearly worked, because ‘Forever’ quickly became one of the most requested unreleased IDs in the scene.
It’s also worth noting that this wasn’t the track’s very first live outing. Garrix and Matisse & Sadko had already teased it together onstage at Ultra China in Shanghai earlier in September, giving fans a short Snapchat-length preview before Nicky’s Ultra Japan drop turned up the hype even further. Between the two festival premieres, it was pretty clear the label just needed to lock down an official release date and cover art before pushing the track out to streaming services.
Good news for anyone who has had this stuck in their head since: ‘Forever’ officially came out on October 20, 2017, through Martin Garrix’s own STMPD RCRDS in partnership with Epic Amsterdam. So the wait fans were hoping wouldn’t be too long turned out to be right around a month from when this Ultra Japan moment happened.
