Just this week the province of Antwerp in Belgium has cleared and signed a contract with the parent company of Tomorrowland allowing the event to be a duel festival for the next 16 years. Yes you read that correctly – until 2033 Tomorrowland will be held over two separate weekends.
The Contract of the Decade
HLN reported out of Belgium that this contract was historic in it's length and scope. The towns of Boom and Rumst welcomed it for both the positive economic effects and the event as well as the fame Tomorrowland brings to the region. ID&T will have to pay a 630,000 euro fee annually to Antwerp province in order to hold the festival over two weekends.

Tomorrowland is a huge economic powerhouse for the region and the huge demand for tickets is in no way being met with a single weekend experience. The expansion to two weekends helped ease demand but still tickets sell out within seconds. The contract does have demands which favor the environment. Each year the grounds will be reviewed to make sure that the festival is not having an incredibly negative effect on the natural environment. If any irreparable damage is found the province can cancel the contract at any time.
This is definitely historic as it preserves the world's most legendary dance music festival for at least the next decade and a half. Tomorrowland is the pinnacle of a music festival experience, and now more fans than ever before will have the chance to attend and be part of the magic.
