It has taken seventeen years, but Moon Harbour hits the magic number of 100 releases in some style. Matthias Tanzmann’s label has actually put out around 150 EPs, albums and compilations, but the 100th vinyl release is a special family affair with key artists Dan Drastic & Sven Tasnadi, Luna City Express, Daniel Stefanik and the boss himself all featuring. Alongside are some very special parties have been planned for Berlin, Miami, and Barcelona throughout spring and summer.
The first is a Moon Harbour Showcase at Watergate in Berlin on the 18th March with Luna City Express, Ninetoes, Sven Tasnadi and Dan Drastic, the second is at the Winter Music Conference in Miami with boss man Matthias Tanzmann plus special guests D‘Julz, Martin Buttrich and Mathias Kaden all playing at Heart Nightclub on the 24th March. Then it’s Off Week at Pacha in Barcelona on the 16th June with Matthias, Dennis Ferrer, Andrea Oliva, Steve Bug, Emanuel Satie, DJ T, Luna City Express, Daniel Stefanik, Anek, and Zohki.
First up is the man himself, Matthias Tanzmann. His Mahoney Baloney is a seductive seven minutes of teasing tech house. An intense synth of sound up through the entire track. A bliss song to begin the complication. Label manager Dan Drastic and regular musical sparring partner Sven Tasnadi then come together for Tastic, a deep but echoing track that engulfs you right in. With a sweet build up to become a powerful tune with trippy vocal yelps and warm, colorful chords that sooth the soul.
Luna City Express then offer a more vibrant feel that brings real wonky dynamism to the rooted kick drums with Saturday. A real crowd pleaser, one that gets the crowd going. Last of all, master of intricacy Daniel Stefanik keeps things gripping with his nicely coiled drums bringing a real sense of house funk to the EP with Resurrection. With these four varied explosive tracks, Moon Harbour perfectly ensemble what has made the label so successful over the last 100 releases.
