His music can be best described as an emotionally charged roller coaster that takes your breath away at each drop. This collaboration with Gryffin is nothing short of just that. With Daya doing vocals for this track, “Feel Good” leads you through an empowering song. Gryffin’s real name is Dan Griffith, and yeah, he plays actual guitar
Not every producer behind a laptop can also pick up a guitar and mean it, but that’s basically Gryffin’s whole thing. Born Dan Griffith, he came up as a classically trained musician before he ever touched production software, and that background is exactly why his tracks always have this live, melodic quality that a lot of purely electronic producers can’t fake. “Feel Good” leaning on real guitar work instead of just a synth pluck is a good example of him bringing that musicianship into a genre that doesn’t always prioritize it.
Daya wasn’t some random featured vocalist either
By the time this track dropped, Daya already had her own moment with “Hide Away,” which went multi-platinum and turned her into a legit pop name in her own right, not just someone’s guest vocalist. She’d also just lent her voice to The Chainsmokers’ “Don’t Let Me Down,” so getting her on a Gryffin and Illenium collab was a pretty big co-sign for both producers. That’s the kind of feature that tells you a track’s got real crossover ambitions, not just a random pairing thrown together for a single release.
