The Chainsmokers – Paris (NIGHTOWLS x Fransis Derelle Remix)

It comes as no surprise that over the past several days, the primary focus for The Chainsmokers has shifted to their newest track “Something Just Like This”. Featuring soaring vocals from Coldplay, the world, for the moment, has presumably taking its eyes off of their other hits.

For the record, “Paris” hasn’t exactly been sitting in the shadows either. Released back in January 2017 as the second single off Memories…Do Not Open, the track climbed all the way to No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 — the duo’s fourth top-ten hit — while also topping multiple dance charts along the way. It’s a noticeably more guitar-driven, subdued cut than a lot of the group’s earlier work, which is probably part of why it’s proven so remix-friendly. Producers have been finding new angles on it for months, and this flip is one of the more interesting ones we’ve come across so far.

With a multitude of tracks still in the Top Ten on numerous charts, “Paris”, continues to grow by day. With original vocals and slowed down beat, this track was almost too perfect to not remix. With a magnitude of possibilities, Nightowls and Fransis Derelle took their best shot and absolutely nailed it.

Using Drew Taggart’s vocals, the trio took a more uptempo approach by speeding up the lyrics each time they were used and threw in a melodic bassy drop. Definitely check this track out, and let us know what you think!

Remixes like this one are also a good reminder of how much life a song can have outside of its original radio cut. Nightowls and Fransis Derelle aren’t the first names most casual fans would recognize yet, but flips like this are exactly how up-and-coming producers get noticed by bigger labels and playlist curators — take a familiar vocal, flip the tempo and energy, and see if it holds up under a club system. Based on the reception this one’s been getting on SoundCloud, it’s holding up just fine.
