Middlelands Drops Lineup – Major Lazer, Bassnectar, Kaskade
The Middlelands music and camping festival lineup is here – and it’s even better than we expected. The cross-genre festival has an EDM-heavy lineup that includes Major Lazer, Bassnectar, Rae Sremmurd, Marshmello, Kaskade and GRiZ.
The Medieval-themed festival, held at the Texas Renaissance Festival Fair Grounds, will also feature artists like Big Gigantic, Alison Wonderland, Phantogram and Crystal Castles.
This is actually the very first edition of Middlelands, and it’s a pretty big swing for a debut. Insomniac and C3 Presents — the two companies behind it — aren’t exactly newcomers to the festival game. Insomniac runs Electric Daisy Carnival, one of the largest dance music festivals in the country, while C3 Presents produces Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza, two of the biggest multi-genre festivals in the U.S. Combining that kind of experience with a fully realized medieval theme and a boutique camping setup is a pretty ambitious way to launch a new brand, and the lineup shows they’re not playing it safe on the music side either.
The three-day camping festival will include larger-than-life art installations, performers, and rides. Five unique stages will be tucked into 60 acres of beautiful Texas woodlands.
More than 10 camping options are available, and attendees are encouraged to join “Sound Camps” where they can bring their own sound equipment to keep the party going after hours.
Middlelands is the work of Insomniac Events and C3 Presents, the masterminds behind festivals like Electric Daisy Carnival, Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza. The festival is set to take place May 5-7 in Todd Mission.
With a lineup blending EDM heavyweights like Major Lazer and Kaskade alongside genre-crossing acts like Rae Sremmurd, Phantogram and Crystal Castles, Middlelands is clearly aiming to pull in a broader crowd than a typical dance festival. If this inaugural run lands the way Insomniac and C3 are hoping, it could turn into one of the more unique additions to the Texas festival calendar for years to come. For a debut event, it’s a genuinely ambitious lineup and production, and it’ll be worth watching whether Middlelands becomes an annual fixture on the Texas festival circuit.
