This Remix of ‘Waiting’ Is Your Sauce For The Week
About a year or two ago I linked up with Anthony Tedder, A.K.A the hardest working manager in the game, and when we started working together he had only two artists under his belt? Today he’s doubled that, and each of these artists are coming into their own.
Enter Tascione with his fresh take on the RL Grime and Skrillex Collab “Waiting” (the original also features What So Not, rounding out a pretty stacked writing credit for a free remix). Officially billed as a “Re-Sauce” rather than a straight remix, it’s less about flipping the track into something unrecognizable and more about reworking it with just enough of Tascione’s own fingerprint to feel fresh in a set.
The track is phenomenally put together and the mix and master have stand out clarity. It feels like an original work in it of itself, but with enough familiarity to grab the average fans attention. That balance is genuinely hard to hit — lean too far toward “faithful” and you’re basically just playing the original with extra steps, lean too far toward “reinvention” and you risk losing the crowd recognition that made the original a festival staple in the first place. Tascione threads that needle here.
It’s also worth pointing out how loaded the source material already was. “Waiting” paired two of trap and bass music’s most respected names in RL Grime and Skrillex, alongside What So Not, so putting out a free re-sauce of a track with that much pedigree behind it is a bold move for a still-rising producer. Pulling it off without the result sounding like an afterthought says a lot about where Tascione’s production skills were at by the end of 2016.
